How to become a makeup artist

I was interviewed by Open Colleges about how I became a makeup artist. It sounds so cliche but I loved makeup from a fairly young age and I loved doing my friend's makeup through my teens. I knew this is what I wanted to do. I first studied makeup in 1998, and then went on to work on a cosmetics counter whilst freelancing on the side when I could.
